Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we hear most. The policies linked in each answer have the full details.
Booking and payment
How do I book?
Choose your vehicle and dates on our booking page and send the request. We confirm availability within 4 business hours and email you a secure payment link. Your booking is confirmed when payment is received.
What does the price include?
Applicable taxes, third-party insurance, a collision damage waiver and theft protection (with an excess), 250 miles a day, and breakdown assistance. Extras such as an additional driver, a child seat, Excess Reduction and delivery are shown separately before you book.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Available card payment methods are confirmed in your written offer before payment. The security deposit must be held on a credit card in the main driver's name. We don't accept cash or prepaid cards for the deposit.
Can I change my booking?
Yes, subject to availability. Contact us as early as you can. If the change makes the rental more expensive we'll charge the difference; if it makes it cheaper we'll refund the difference, as long as the change is made at least 48 hours before pick-up.
Drivers and documents
How old do I need to be?
Between 23 and 75, with a full licence held for at least 2 years. Drivers aged 23–24 pay a young driver fee of £15 a day. See Driver Requirements.
What do I need to bring?
Your full driving licence (photocard), a DVLA check code if your licence was issued in Great Britain, two proofs of address dated within the last three months, and a credit card in your name. If your licence was issued outside the UK, also bring your passport and, where needed, an International Driving Permit.
Can someone else drive?
Yes, if they are added to the rental agreement as an additional driver (£10 a day) and meet the same requirements. Anyone not named on the agreement is not insured to drive.
Deposits, insurance and charges
How does the security deposit work?
At pick-up we place a pre-authorisation (a hold) on your credit card for the deposit amount of your vehicle category, between £250 and £750. It isn't a charge. We release it after the return check, and your card issuer usually takes 7 to 10 working days to show it as available again. See the Security Deposit & Damage Policy.
What is the excess?
The most you'll pay towards damage to the vehicle or its theft under the included cover, between £1,250 and £2,000 depending on the category. Excess Reduction (£15 a day) lowers it to £250. Some damage isn't covered, for example from using the wrong fuel or breaking the rental terms. See Insurance & Protection.
Who pays the Congestion Charge, tolls and fines?
You do. You're responsible for the London Congestion Charge, the Dartford Crossing charge, tolls, parking and traffic penalties during your rental. If we receive a penalty notice we'll pass it to you or pay it and recharge it, plus a £30 administration fee. All our vehicles meet ULEZ standards.
During and after your rental
What is your fuel policy?
Full to full. Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at pick-up. Otherwise we charge the cost of the missing fuel at local pump prices plus a £20 refuelling fee. Electric vehicles should come back with at least the same charge level. See Collection & Return.
Is there a mileage limit?
250 miles a day are included, added up over the whole rental. Extra miles cost £0.20 each.
What if I return the car late?
You have a 59-minute grace period. After that we charge an extra rental day. If you know you'll be late, email us. If the car is available we can extend your booking at the normal daily rate.
Can I take the vehicle abroad?
Not without our written permission, arranged before your rental starts. Taking a hired vehicle out of the UK needs a VE103B certificate and extra insurance, and charges apply.
What happens if I break down or have an accident?
Make sure everyone is safe and call the emergency services if needed. Then use the assistance contact details supplied with your rental agreement. Don't arrange repairs yourself. Take photos and the other party's details, and report the accident to us within 24 hours.
How do I cancel, and will I get a refund?
Email us. If you cancel at least 48 hours before pick-up you get a full refund. If you cancel later, we retain no more than one day's vehicle rental charge, capped at our reasonable net loss. We initiate refunds within 2 working days; your card issuer usually takes 5 to 10 working days to credit your account. See the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
